Beloved characters of the tvN drama "Goblin" are set to tackle the consequences of the decisions they made in their past lives as it impacts their present-day relationships. Latest spoiler news teased of a rift between the Grim Reaper (Lee Dong Wook) and the goblin (Gong Yoo), with Sunny (Yoo In Na) caught in the middle of their fight.
"Goblin" episode 12 ended with a cliffhanger where the goblin Shin finally learned of the Grim Reaper's true identity from the evil eunuch ghost Joong Heon (Kim Byung Chul). Shin confronted the angel of death just as the Grim Reaper came to the realization that he is the Goryeo King who was responsible for Shin and his sister's death.
Aired on Jan. 7, the said episode featured Shin nearly strangling the Grim Reaper. In the upcoming "Goblin" episode 13, viewers will see the end of the two immortal characters' bromance.
The latest teaser clip released by tvN unveiled a tense conversation between the said characters. After telling the angel of death that he cannot forgive him for his past deeds, Shin turns away from a teary-eyed Grim Reaper.
With Sunny's shared destiny with the two immortals as the reincarnation of Shin's sister and the King's wife, she will need to choose between the Grim Reaper and goblin. However, it appears that Sunny will follow a similar path as the one that she took during her past life.
A scene in the said clip revealed a heartbreaking confrontation between Sunny and the Grim Reaper as she walks away from the angel death. However, in a voice-over, the Grim Reaper implores her to support him instead of Shin.
Other interesting scenes included in the clip teased of Shin's battle with the eunuch ghost and the goblin's potential plans of having Eun Tak remove the magical sword from his chest to end his immortal life. In a voice-over, Sunny tells her brother to do what he needs to do as she assures him that she will live a happy life, while Shin meets with an unsuspecting Eun Tak in school.
In other news, "Goblin" topped the TV popularity chart for the week period of Dec. 26, 2016 until Jan. 1. Gaining a score of 287.7 points on the Content Power Index, the tvN drama reclaimed its top spot from "Hwarang," according to CJ E&M and Nielsen Korea, as cited by Yonhap News.
Meanwhile, tvN will air a special episode on Jan. 14 instead of episode 14. A production staff told Chosun that the upcoming special will provide viewers a chance to learn more about the complicated relationships of beloved characters.
"Goblin" episode 14 will air on Jan. 20, while the tvN drama's final two episodes will be released back-to-back on Jan. 21. Watch a teaser clip for the upcoming episode 13 below:
