"Prison Break" Season 5 would not have been possible if not for "The Flash." This was revealed by actors Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell themselves, who played Michael Scofield and his brother Lincoln Burrows on "Prison Break."

At the 2017 Television Critics' Association (TCA) press tour on Jan. 11, Miller and Purcell told Variety that the idea of reviving the series, which ended in 2009, came after they were reunited in the superhero series. In 2014, the actors were cast as the villainous duo Captain Cold and Heatwave on the debut season of the CW superhero series.

"That is where Dom and I had our reunion. Suddenly we were back on set, discussing old times. And out of that conversation came the possibility of revisiting 'Prison Break,'" Miller said. Similarly, he said in a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly that Captain Cold would be brought into the Legion of Doom by time-travel and not by resurrection.

Even "Prison Break" creator and executive producer Paul T. Scheuring also believed that the revival of the series would not have happened if not for Miller and Purcell's reunion on "The Flash." During the "Prison Break" Season 5 presentation at the TCA press tour, he said that after Miller and Purcell talked about reviving the series, he sat down with Miller to talk about the possibility.

Scheuring and Miller visited a North Hollywood café to talk about what the revival might look like, and just when they were about to leave the café, a car stopped in the middle of the street and a bunch of men jumped out and apparently recognized Miller as "the guy from 'Prison Break.'" Scheuring recounted that when the men asked for photos with Miller, that was when he acknowledged the kind of hunger that people internationally had for the show.

The series creator revealed that the original order for the new season was 10 episodes, but they had to cut it later to nine due to limitations in schedule. He said they had 15 to 16 weeks to shoot all the scenes, but at the end of the day they just did not have enough time for all the 10 episodes so they decided to conflate two of the episodes into one.

"Prison Break" Season 5 is set to premiere on April 4 on FOX. Watch the new trailer for the revival series here:
