In 2010, it could be remembered that Wentworth Miller, who plays Michael Scofield, expressed his thoughts that "Prison Break" would unlikely to return. In the Season 4 finale, Scofield was left dead.

"Not that I've heard," Scofield told Collider. "I feel as though we told the story we intended to tell. That's something that's very rare in television, that you're allowed closure, and we were."

However, the fate of the show changed because after seven years of hiatus, the hit series returns to the small screen. As per Purcell, Fox has always wanted to revisit the series. In August, Fox announced that "Prison Break" Season 5 will return with 10 episodes that were then shortened into nine.

Initially, original series creator Paul Scheuring was announced to write the first episode. Sarah Wayne Callies, who plays Michael's wife Sara Tancredi, later confirmed that he will write the entire nine episodes with the help of "Burn Notice" creator Mike Horowitz and "Dominion" creator Vaun Wilmott.

Moreover, almost the entire cast will be back in "Prison Break" Season 5. The Fox network confirmed Purcell and Miller's return earlier this year. Callies also confirmed her return to Digital Spy and teased the reunion of Tancredi and Scofield.

Moreover, the storyline reveals what really happened with the characters, particularly Scofield, who was deemed to be dead. Viewers could expect a lot of actions and suspense as "biggest escape ever" in the series' history will be seen. Watch the Comic-Con trailer of the hit Fox series:
