HTC 11 is nowhere to be seen as the company will be launching the HTC U Ultra and U Play instead. The HTC U Ultra will be the company's flagship smartphone for 2017.

Interestingly, the HTC U Ultra looks more similar to the LG V20 as it also has a secondary ticker screen on top. It also has a form factor of the iPhone 7 which may signal a desperate move by HTC.

HTC U Ultra specs include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset and 4GB RAM. It also has 64GB for the internal storage similar to the LG V20.

The HTC U Ultra sports a 5.7-inch screen with 1440p resolution and a secondary ticker on top of the main one, Forbes has learned. The screen uses an LCD panel which is better for color but not for overall clarity and battery life since OLED panels are considered to be the most efficient.

Another interesting similarity is the absence of water resistance for the new flagship smartphone. It does have a glass chassis which adds to its overall appear but there is also no head phone jack similar to the iPhone 7.

Besides the HTC U Ultra specs and the U Play, the company also announced that they will only be launching six to seven smartphones this year. HTC President of Smartphone and Connected Devices Business Chialin Chang told Engadget that the reason for the smalller number is so that HTC will be able to focus more on core features.

Other specs include a 3000mAh battery and 12MP for the rear camera. The headphones can be plugged in using USB-C as well as for charging and data transfers.

HTC U Ultra price is set at $750 for the United States. There will be no carrier partnerships which means that customers will have to buy it through lump sum once it releases.
