When "The Flash" Season 3 returns to the small screens, avid viewers will see the return of a familiar face in an upcoming episode. The character Ronnie Raymond, also known as the metahuman Firestorm and Caitlin's (Danielle Panabaker) late husband, is set to reappear in the CW superhero series.

The second half of "The Flash" Season 3 will feature the return of a few characters, one of which is the deceased Ronnie. Caitlin's husband died in Season 2 when he sacrificed himself to destroy the singularity affecting Central City.

However, the CW brought Ronnie back as the villainous Earth-2 version of the said character. Named Deathstorm, the alternate version of Caitlin's late husband was eventually killed by Zoom (Teddy Sears) towards the end of Season 2.

In an upcoming winter episode of "The Flash" Season 3, Ronnie will again reappear in the CW series. Robbie Amell is slated to reprise his role as the said character, according to Entertainment Weekly.

At this time, it is still unclear if Ronnie's impending reappearance will be in a flashback scene or as another version of the said character from a different world. Details of Amell's role and episode plot lines were not disclosed.

Despite the lack of information about Amell's return to the show, one of "The Flash" cast members, specifically Panabaker, shared her thoughts over the Canadian actor's upcoming appearance. The actress took to Twitter on Jan. 12, Thursday, to convey her excitement.

Meanwhile, Ronnie's reappearance may impact Caitlin's storyline in the CW series. Given Caitlin's growing powers and her challenges in controlling her frost abilities, Ronnie might play an important role in the said character's journey.

In an earlier interview with TVLine, showrunner Aaron Helbing teased that some of the beloved characters will be faced with huge challenges. Viewers can also expect to see some storyline developments for Caitlin given the production team's "big, exciting plans" for the said character.

"The Flash" Season 3 is scheduled to release its midseason premiere on Jan. 24, Tuesday, on the CW. Watch a teaser clip for the upcoming episode below:
