Apple's rumored 10.5-inch iPad Pro 2 has raised a lot of questions from its audiences. However, the new size might actually make sense considering some mathematics regarding the screen and pixel density.

There has been no update on the iPad Pro since its release in 2015. Apple did not seem to follow up the product but a successor may finally appear this year.

Dan Provost, a designer from Studio Neat, wrote in a post on Medium that the same concept of the iPad Pro in 2015 can be applied to the 10.5-inch variant. The original iPad Pro had a 12.9-inch size because it was the sum of two 9.7-inch iPads put together on each side.

With the same concept, the 10.5-inch iPad Pro 2 is indeed feasible. Provost wrote that the variant would still use the same pixel resolution of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro which means that the pixel density will increase.

"The math works out perfectly," Provost wrote. "This new 10.5" iPad would have the exact same resolution as the 12.9" iPad Pro (2732 x 2048), but the same pixel density of the iPad mini (326 ppi instead of 264 ppi). Crunch the numbers, do a little Pythagorean Theorem, and you end up with a screen 10.5" diagonal (10.47" to be precise, but none of Apple's stated screen sizes are exact)"

Apple will also be able to manufacture the iPad Pro 2 easier with the 10.5-inch size and the same pixel density as the iPad mini 4 because the process would be similar, Cult of Mac reported. In addition, the larger pixel density means an overall clearer screen. Users will not see as much as pixelated elements because of the high ppi count.

There is no official announcement regarding the iPad Pro 2 yet but the information comes from reputable analysts. Apple may reveal the products in their own press event in the following months.
