Fans of BLACKPINK may now refer to themselves as "BLINK". The official fandom name of YG Entertainment's rookie girl group was revealed in an Instagram post on Jan. 16 by one of its members.

KMusic said in a report that it was Jennie who confirmed the rumors about BLACKPINK's official fandom name. Jennie, who celebrated her birthday two days ago, posted an image of her surrounded by gifts from fans whom she thanked in her heartfelt caption.

"BLINK my favorite people on this planet. I can't thank you guys enough for all the gifts and letters. I am so blessed to have you guys. I am more than thankful for all the love I received today. I love you blinks," Jennie wrote on @blackpinkofficial's Instagram page.

According to SBS Australia, the group which debuted August of last year did not have an official fandom name until a post with a one-word image of "BLINK" on their Instagram page last Jan. 15 caused speculations among fans.

As SBS Australia pointed out, "Blink" is portmanteau of the group's name "Black" and "Pink". This, of course, initiated mixed emotions from their fans.

BLACKPINK successfully debuted last year. The group which was introduced and managed by YG Entertainment had become widely popular in K-pop that they were referred to as 2016's "Monster Rookies", KMusic revealed.

Their songs "Whistle", "Boombayah" and "Playing with Fire" continually topped the charts and competed with big names in K-pop which resulted with the girls being recognized.

Earlier this year, BLACKPINK was a guest on SBS variety show "Running Man". Moreover, last Jan. 11, two of its members - Jisoo and Rosé - was invited for their first talk show MBC's "Radio Star".

In a report by Soompi, both girls discussed how it was like to train under YG and confirmed the "six restrictions" in their contracts which includes clubbing, dating, drinking, driving, smoking and plastic surgery.

However, Rosé clarified that there are exceptions to these rules. "Exceptions can be made if you discuss it with the company. The restrictions are just there to tell you not to do any of those things secretly," she said.

Aside from the sit down interview, the girls also sang an acoustic version of Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself".
