"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8, episode 9 will see Sybil (Nathalie Kelley) triggering Damon's (Ian Somerhalder) memories of Elena (Nina Dobrev) by wearing a similar dress at the Miss Mystic Falls pageant.
In "The Simple Intimacy of the Near Touch," Caroline (Candice Accola-King) will organize a pageant and train a new crop of girls to represent their community. Despite not really being invited, Sybil will take it upon herself to go to the event.
She arrives at the venue wearing a blue dress that looks exactly like the dress Elena wore to the same event in Season 1. Sybil has a smug look on her face, but when Damon sees her, he automatically lightens up. This makes it easier for Sybil to get into Damon's memories since it is triggered by thoughts of Elena.
Elsewhere, Matt (Zach Roerig) will be out on a mission to take down the bad guys when he suddenly bumps into Seline. Matt would have to decide whether or not he could really trust her.
Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) will also return to Mystic Falls from a romantic getaway abroad. However, Bonnie seems different, and Caroline will be the first one to take notice of this.
Meanwhile, "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 is already halfway through the season, but there is still no confirmation about Dobrev's return to the finale. During her recent interview with the Huffington Post, the actress was asked to respond to the rumors.
Unfortunately, Dobrev said that she cannot do so especially since she has sworn to secrecy over such things. But even though Dobrev could not give fans a concrete answer as of the moment, executive producer Julie Plec is more than confident the former cast member will be on board.
According to the exec, Dobrev wants to see Elena until the end, and the only reason for her to not return to the finale is if it has a conflict with her other engagements. Otherwise, Dobrev will reprise her role and reunite with Damon, Stefan (Paul Wesley), Caroline and Bonnie.
"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8, episode 9 will air on The CW on Jan. 20 at 8 p.m. EST.
