Nintendo's "Super Mario Run" has been out for iOS devices since December and the game is now set to release for Android. However, consumers will have to wait a little longer as Nintendo reveals it is not coming out for the Android platform until March.

Nintendo tweeted the release date and announced that fans could already find the game listed on the Google Play Store. No pricing has yet been stated for the Android port. "Super Mario Run" costs $9.99 on iOS.

Fans can also pre-register on the Play Store. An email will then be sent out to pre-registered gamers the moment the game has gone live, Polygon reported.

The game can be downloaded for free but only three levels are playable. Consumers are then advised to pay the full price in order to unlock the rest of the game. Nintendo had also emphasized that there would be no microtransactions in the game other than the $9.99 price to get the full experience.

"Super Mario Run" is Nintendo's first major title on the mobile market. They previously released the social app "Miitomo" and collaborated with Niantic for "Pokemon Go."

Unlike the "Mario" games on consoles and handheld gaming devices, "Super Mario Run" is an autorunner. Players can make Mario and the other playable characters jump by tapping the screen. Each level has special blocks to momentarily pause Mario or make him jump backwards.

The game focuses primarily on its single-player "World Tour" mode but it also has a Kingdom Builder, multiplayer Toad Rally and the Friendly Run modes. The latter three are required in order to unlock new characters Luigi, Yoshi, Toad, Toadette and Princess Peach.

While Android fans await the launch of "Super Mario Run," Nintendo is already working on their next mobile game. "Fire Emblem Heroes" is scheduled to release for both iOS and Android on Feb. 2, Kotaku reported.
