The highly-acclaimed Netflix Series "Stranger Things" will have its second season soon, and "Split" director M. Night Shyamalan wants to be part of it. After all, "Stranger Things" showrunners Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer made their TV debut on the director's "Wayward Pines," and it seems that getting him as a director is a just payback.
In an interview with Digital Spy, Shyamalan confirmed that he would love to direct at least an episode of the 1980's-themed Netflix series, which will return for a second season this year. He said that the Duffer brothers did "Wayward Pines" for him, and he would really appreciate it if they hired him back.
Also, Shyamalan revealed that he is currently working on a bunch of TV shows. This includes the previously-announced reboot of the '90s series "Tales from the Crypt," which he still hopes to do despite various complications such as rights issues.
Meanwhile, "Stranger Things" was supposed to be different compared to the one released in Netflix. In an interview with the Vulture, the Duffer brothers confirmed that their original manuscript for "Stranger Things" was more brutal that it should warrant an R rating if it continued the way it was intended to be.
Ross said that Eleven (played by Millie Brown) should have been a violent protagonist, meaning that she was intended to be a character who will brutally murder people without any hesitation. Matt added that the original pilot was much more violent, enough to make Joyce Byers (played by Winona Ryder) to say profanities nonstop. Despite this, he feels like it was unnecessary and that toning the violence down did not feel like sacrificing anything.
As for spoilers, Ross gave a bit of a head's-up on the current state of the Upside Down, saying that the gateway to it is still open and it is a bad thing. Also, Will Byers's (played by Noah Schnapp) condition after his incarceration in the Upside Down will kickstart the new season.
