Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to come with a DeX Station dock that will help its users to get full-fledged Android desktop experience.

In December 2016, a leaked slide had revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S8 would be equipped with a Desktop eXperience (DeX) feature that will transform the flagship phone into a desktop workstation. This function is similar to Continuum available on Windows 10 devices.

The South Korean company has trademarked "Samsung DeX" name. According to its listing with USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office), the feature has been described as, "Application software, namely, for projecting the screen of mobile device to displays via computer peripheral devices and wireless networks; computer peripheral devices; computer software for wireless network communications; computer software, namely, software for controlling user interface mode adaption."

"DeX Station" moniker has also been trademarked by Samsung. According to Slash Gear, the DeX Station indicates the docking station whereas the Samsung DeX name may be used to describe the feature.

Like Continuum on Windows 10, to experience full-fledged desktop PC experience, Galaxy S8 users may have to connect it to the DeX station. An additional display, a keyboard and a mouse is also required to be connected to the DeX Station. The Samsung DeX is expected to the secret weapon on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus smartphones.

Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy S8 will not be unveiled at the MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2017 event that will be held in February. The Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are expected to respectively feature 5-inch and 6-inch dual-edge curved screens. The S8 phones are expected to come with bezel-less design.

The Galaxy S8 phones will be powered by Snapdragon 835 SoC and 6 GB RAM. It is expected to come with an internal storage of 64 GB. It will come loaded with Android 7.0 Nougat OS. Its 12-megapixel camera is expected to be improved version of the "duo pixel" rear camera present on Galaxy S7. The arrival of USB Type-C port on Galaxy S8 is another indication that DeX feature will arrive on Galaxy S8.

Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are slated to get unveiled in late March. It is expected to go on sale on April 21.
