The plague for Toyota started way back in the early part of 2009.

In 2009, Toyota was prompted to do a massive recall to one of their high selling models, the 2009 Lexus ES350, because of a fatal accident in California.

It has claimed 4 lives including a highway patrol officer who owns the defective vehicle. Before the fatal accident happened, one of the passengers was able to call 911 and reported that the vehicle suddenly accelerated and has no brakes. The faulty car, at that time, was running at an estimated 110mph before it hit another car that causes the vehicle to tumble down embankment and eventually catches fire.

According to the investigation, the fault was seen in the cars floor mats that possibly affected the car's acceleration and breaks to work properly.

In 2010, due to a horrific crash in the southern California area, Toyota has halted selling the sale of their eight bestselling variants that have caused them a minimum of $54 million a day in revenue.

As of this writing, Toyota has not released any plans of action on how to fix or compensate the affected customers due to the recall.
