At this time, it is still unclear how the CW show's writing team will feature the highly-anticipated Elena and Damon reunion. With Elena's resurrection from her sleep-like death linked to Bonnie's life, story speculations hinted at Bonnie's potential demise in the show's upcoming series finale.

Given Bonnie's romance with Enzo (Michael Malarkey) and her desire to remain a human, Enzo might opt to drink some of Elena's blood to cure him of vampirism, according to story speculations posted on Entertainment Weekly. Enzo will also share the vampire cure with Damon so that the Salvatore brother can use it to turn himself into a human after Bonnie dies from old age and Elena wakes from her slumber.

In other news, showrunners Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson recently shared their thoughts about Dobrev's impending return. In an interview with Variety, Plec conveyed her excitement over the actress' upcoming appearance and that they felt "thrilled" at being given the chance to end "Vampire Diaries" the way that they envisioned the finale to be.

Williamson also shared a similar statement and teased that the finale episode will be a memorable event for avid fans. He stated, "I'm so excited to have Nina back to ensure our farewell episode is truly epic!"

Dobrev's impending appearance in "The Vampire Diaries" series finale is expected to be released on March 10, on the CW. Watch a clip of Elena and Damon's first dance below:
