"Stranger Things" Season 2 spoilers have been scarce, with the rumors that it may be seen later in the summer. New clues have emerged after David Harbour, who plays Chief of Police Jim Hopper, dropped major hints for the second run.

It seems that "Stranger Things" Season 2 may see a love triangle happening. At the Fan2Sea Comic Con panel, Harbour revealed that "The Goonies" alum Sean Astin has been cast as Bob Newby, Joyce Byers' (Winona Ryder) new boyfriend.
When it comes to the second run's timeline, Harbour disclosed that the new season will pick up a year later when Season 1 concluded, particularly in the fall of 1984. He confirmed that Will (Noah Schnapp) has returned. So many turns of event had already happened that will bring more confusion to the town of Hawkins, Indiana.
Harbour also revealed that the popular "Justice for Barb" idea will be felt immensely at the beginning of the episode. Although Barbara (Shannon Purser), will not return to "Stranger Things" Season 2, her friend Nancy (Natalia Dyer) will still try to remember her good friend, who was killed in the Upside Down.
In an interview with Vanity Fair at the annual BAFTA Awards Season Tea Party early in January, director and executive producer Shawn Levy confirmed that Season 2 is composed of a bigger cast with the core group still intact and several new additions, including Astin, Paul Reiser and Linnea Berthelsen. Harbour, Ryder, Gaten Matarazzo, Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin and Millie Bobby Brown are all returning.
Levy disclosed that "Stranger Things" Season 2 storyline will be bigger and darker. He teased more threats for Will, and that it will continue with storytelling similar to Season 1. He added that it will still be character-based.
Schnapp, who was promoted to series regular ahead of the second run, revealed that he has more screen time this season. He teased that Season 2 would start with Season 1's major cliffhanger finale, where viewers will see what really happened to him. There will be changes with Will that viewers should watch out for.
Meanwhile, the series creators Matt and Ross Duffer disclosed that they were observing fan theories about "Stranger Things" Season 2, and some of them are almost right. The duo also revealed that the titles released in the first trailer were all vague that people will have a hard time understanding them.
"Some of the fan theories online are amazing," Matt told The Hollywood Reporter. "Most are wrong, but I've read a few that are right or very close. Is it Reddit? Some of those people have figured stuff out based off of the chapter titles."
