Samsung may release the Galaxy Tab S2's successor anytime soon, following the device's recent sightings in benchmarking websites. With few headlines quoting the device's hardware specs, information on the Galaxy Tab 3's processor suggests either Exynos 7420 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 mobile chipset, and a 4GB of RAM.
Earlier this month, the Chinese microblogging site Weibo leaked information on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab S3. According to Phone Arena, the said rumor pointed to an Exynos 7420 processor chipset powering the Galaxy Tab S3 tablet. In addition, the tablet will be equipped with a 4GB of RAM, USB Type-C port and a fingerprint sensor embedded on its Home button.
However, the rumor mill for the Galaxy Tab S3 continues to produce information on its processor. Now, the recent sighting in GFXBench showed the Galaxy Tab S3 (SM-T820 and SM-T825) equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and 4GB of RAM.
To recall, Samsung used its own mobile chipset, the Exynos 7420, on the Galaxy Tab S2; however, the said GFXBench listing may undergo changes in the future as more updates or the official unveiling is to arrive.
Following the GFXBench listing, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 will offer a 9.6-inch display with 2,048×1536 pixel resolution. In its internal chassis, a 2.1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor is expected to be found, coupled with a 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage onboard. The 4GB of RAM inside the Tab S3 is an upgrade over the 3GB RAM from the Tab S2.
On its optics department, the listing noted that the device could feature a 12-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, while a secondary 5-megapixel front shooter is located in the front panel.
In terms of its variants, Sammobile has previously reported a possible two version of the Galaxy Tab S3 according to screen sizes, with the 9.7-inch display being the one. On the software front, the Galaxy Tab S3 will run Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.
The delayed release for the Galaxy Tab S3 can be attributed to the Galaxy Note 7's battery fiasco last year, which pushed the South Korean company to launch it on the first quarter of 2017. To recall, the Galaxy Tab S2 debuted way back in the summer of 2015.
The Galaxy Tab S3 series is rumored to be introduced on the Mobile World Congress (MWC) trade show in February.
