According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox handed out a television pilot order to its "Behind Enemy Lines" reboot. This is a military soap thriller wherein a group of U.S. soldiers finds themselves trapped behind enemy lines.

Fox's "Behind Enemy Lines" is described as a distinctly patriotic series with a multi-perspective narrative that closely follows the soldiers on the ground, and the officers and service men and women on a nearby aircraft carrier, alongside intelligence officers in District of Columbia, Variety reported. They attempt to bring our heroes home safely and under the radar.

In September, "Homeland" scribe Jeffrey Nachmanoff was attached to pen the script and direct "Behind Enemy Lines." Toscano is now the new writer to pen the new take, whose premise has also been updated from the original. He will also produce on Fox's highly anticipated "24: Legacy."

The original feature "Behind Enemy Lines" starred Owen Wilson and Gene Hackman. It is the 2001 war movie that grossed $92 million worldwide and led to three direct-to-video sequels. Davis Entertainment produced it for 20th Century Fox.

Director McG will also executive produce the hourlong series "Behind Enemy Lines" alongside Toscano, Marty Bowen, "The Blacklist" John Davis and John Fox via Davis Entertainment, and Temple Hill's Wyck Godfrey, who also produced the feature film. Albert Page is set as a co-executive producer. Twentieth Century Fox Television is producing with Temple Hill and Davis Entertainment.

"Behind Enemy Lines" is the latest reboot and first high-profile feature-to-TV adaptation to nab a pilot order for the 2017-2018 television season, though this cycle has seen far less remakes than the past two pilot seasons, which were jam-packed with revivals of both television shows and films. It becomes Fox's fourth drama pilot order of the season produced in-house at the 20th Century Fox Television and marks McG's latest TV foray following Fox's Lethal Weapon reboot. It is also Davis Entertainment's second pilot pickup of the season, joining ABC's Zach Braff comedy "Start Up."
