Asus is releasing the new Republic of Gamers Swift PG258Q gaming monitor at the end of February after being announced in 2016. The new monitor has an impressive native refresh rate of up to 240Hz.
PC gaming enthusiasts who want the best gear do not stop only at buying the latest and most powerful video cards. They also need a fast monitor that can keep up with the high frame rates.
Asus has continuosly released fast gaming monitors but the new ROG Swift PG258Q takes the cake. Besides the 240Hz refresh rate, it also has an ultra-low response time of just 1ms.
In addition, the new monitor also has NVIDIA's G-Sync technology that takes care of screen tearing during high-action sequences. All of the motion on screen will be flawless and smooth without any lag, provided that the video card can also handle the load.
Asus said in a statement obtained by PC Gamer that the ROG Swift PG258Q is twice as fast as the common 120Hz gaming monitors. The company also claims that motion blur is nearly non-existent except for when the gamers do enable them through in-game options.
Unfortunately, the new monitor still uses the same Twisted Nematic panel. It is generally preferred by gamers because of the low response time but it is not as clear and colorful as In-Plane Switching screens. Gamers who focus on e-sports titles such as "Counter Strike: Global Offensive," "League of Legends" and "DOTA 2" will most likely choose a faster response time compared to dazzling visuals.
Asus ROG Swift PG258Q specs to consider are its 1080p resolution and 24.5-inch size, HEXUS reported. Gamers who want the best possible graphics for their games such as "The Witcher 3" may not want to get stuck at 1080p.
The new Asus ROG Swift PG258Q will be available by the end of February. Pricing has not been revealed yet but interested customers should expect it to be tagged at at least $200.
