Despite being the biggest star of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Conor McGregor has been one of the most critical of the mixed martial arts promotion. Now that he is bound to make the most money in a fight outside UFC, it is not farfetched that McGregor sets aside the company that made him a millionaire.

After much fuss that surrounded fight rumors between McGregor and boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, the much-awaited bout might finally be in the works as both seemed to have settled their issues. The Irish fighter looks eager to continue his fighting career in the boxing ring rather than the Octagon, saying "f*** the UFC, f*** MMA," MMA Fighting reported.

For McGregor, who currently has a reported net worth of $22 million ($18 million from salary and winnings and $4 million from endorsement), it is just practical to pursue the boxing fight against Mayweather in a possibility that he can double his net worth in a single bout, noting that 'Money' made roughly $230 million in his megafight against Manny Pacquiao in 2015.

The UFC lightweight champion is currently on a hiatus from the UFC as he will attend to his wife that will give birth to their first child but instead of coming back as a mixed martial artist, he intends to meet Mayweather in what he believes could be a billion-dollar bout, Rolling Stone reported.

He told his 5,000 fans who had paid to watch his Q&A session in England that he and Mayweather got together and talked about making the fight happen. He said that they just have to settle with how much each of them will take before going to promoters and buyers of the fight to "get it done." McGregor added, "This is happening."

Though UFC president Dana White has expressed his respect for McGregor, he told the media in the post-fight presser of UFC on FOX 23 that if the UFC's biggest star continues to dig on the company, it will be an "epic fall" for him. Fight fans will have to stay tuned on the ongoing drama of the possible McGregor-Mayweather megabout.
