DICE and EA's sequel to 2015's "Star Wars Battlefront" is right on track for a late 2017 release. Albeit being quite way off, current players of the first game could not help but fret about the game's fate as it is rumored that the inbound sequel could mark the end of the current title.

On Jan. 31, EA held an earnings call and discussed to its partners and investors the company's financial results.  Apart from this, the company also tackled the upcoming installment to "Star Wars Battlefront" as it announced that it will be rolled out during the Holidays.

Such news has prompted some players to express their two cents about it over at the game's forum site. EA's global community manager, Mathew Everett, came to his attention about such talks from "Battlefront's" player base and eventually doused such speculations.

In his reply as gathered by Kotaku, Everett mentioned that the support for the current "Battlefront" will still continue. He further explained that despite the stoppage of content on its Skirmish mode, this does not signify that there will be no more other contents to be shelled out.

The next "Battlefront" promises to be more dynamic than the current title as it will let players have a space shoot fest on different "Star Wars" eras. It is even betted as early as now that maps from "Episode VII" are likely to be featured in the game sequel. Moreover, the likeness of "The Last Jedi" to be represented in the said game is also very much viable.

Aside from the multiple era gameplay, a single-player campaign is also one of the add-ons to look forward to in the upcoming title. It can be recalled that the first game was criticized due to its content specifically the lack of a single-player story mode, according to Forbes.

Game buffs even theorized that the said campaign will be similar to that of "Battlefield 1" where players were taken to different scenarios as they play the part of different characters in the game. Moreover, some fans are even contemplating if the sequel's multiple eras would go as far as using the elements in the franchise's prequel trilogy which received quite a panning from some critics especially its "Episode II."
