Nintendo continues its strong streak in the mobile market with the launch of its second mobile title, "Fire Emblem Heroes." In just 24 hours since its launch, over 2 million players have downloaded the game and it's total revenue totals to over $2.9 million.

In comparison, this is not as strong as the launch of either "Pokemon GO" or "Super Mario Run." However, the game's success is stronger than the day-one data of Supercell's "Clash Royale," Sensor Tower reported.

"Pokemon GO" earned over $10.2 million in its first day and "Super Mario Run" earned $8.4 million. "Fire Emblem Heroes" takes the third spot as "Clash Royale" only managed to earn $1.4 million on its launch day.

In terms of downloads, "Pokemon GO" gained 6 million downloads and "Super Mario Run" gained 4.2 million. Both "Fire Emblem Heroes" and "Clash Royale" had 2 million downloads. As of the time of writing, "Fire Emblem Heroes" ranks as the 17th most downloaded game on the iOS platform in the United States.

The vast majority of downloads hail from Japan, Dual Shockers reported. The franchise is more popular in Japan than it is in North America but the series is beginning to gain more traction following the launch of "Fire Emblem Awakening" for the Nintendo 3DS.

It is noted that the initial players are likely to be the most diehard fans of the franchise and may be the ones most likely to spend money on the game. It is still uncertain how well the day one metrics for "Fire Emblem Heroes" will hold as time goes on.

Unlike "Super Mario Run," the game is free to play but it does contain microtransactions. By purchasing orbs in the game players can replenish spent stamina or summon new heroes in the game.
