The first trailer for "Stranger Things" Season 2 will air during the Super Bowl LI this Feb. 5, Sunday. Netflix has released the first sneak peek image and executive producer Shawn Levy also offered a short tease of what's to come.

The image features Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Mike (Finn Wolfhard) and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) heading to school. All three boys are dressed in "Ghostbusters" costumes. Will (Noah Schnapp) is notably absent in the image.

"Stranger Things" Season 2 takes place in 1984, the same year "Ghostbusters" released in theaters. This is approximately one year following the events of Season 1. "Ghostbusters" managed to become a massive success following its release and became a pop culture icon.

The show has utilized 1980s pop culture in Season 1 and the image confirms that it will be a major part of Season 2 as well. Other popular films from 1984 that may be referenced in the series are "The Terminator," "A Nightmare on Elm Street," "The Karate Kid" and "Gremlins."

Will's absence in the photo also hints at future problems, despite the destruction of the Demogorgon in the Season 1 finale. "The Demorgon was destroyed but evil wasn't," Levy told Entertainment Weekly.

Audiences will recall that Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) disappeared when she defeated the Demogorgon. Will, who was rescued from the Upside-Down dimension, also vomited out a slug, indicating he had been changed and there may still be a new monster to appear in Season 2.

Eleven has been confirmed to return for Season 2, Screen Rant reported. Whether or not she'll be changed as well or how she survives her journey into the Upside-Down has yet to be seen.

No release date for "Stranger Things" Season 2 has yet been announced. The trailer for Season 1, which is available for streaming on Netflix, can be viewed below:
