"Living For Love" singer Madonna, 56, has revealed that she dated Tupac Shakur two years before the rapper's tragic death in Las Vegas in September 1996 at the age of 25.

In her interview with Howard Stern on his SiriusXM radio show on March 11, Madonna talked about the late rapper when Stern brought up her appearance on "The Late Show With David Letterman" in 1994, in which she said the F-word 14 times, which makes it the most censored episode in the history of American talk show.

Madonna explained that she was "in a weird mood that day" and was mad at Letterman when she said the F-word a lot. She said, "I was dating Tupac Shakur at the time and the thing is he got me all riled up on life in general. So when I went on the show I was feeling very gangsta."

During the interview, Madonna also said she is still close with Rosie O'Donnell, who recently left her post as a host of "The View."

"I adore her," Madonna said of O'Donnell. "She has adopted children and so do I. She's funny and so am I."

Meanwhile, on the March 12, Thursday, episode of "The View," host Rosie Perez, 50, told her fellow panellists that she was responsible for the Madonna-Tupac romance.

Perez explained that she was Shakur's date during the 1993 Soul Train Awards. But when Madonna told her she is interested in the rapper, Perez decided to hook them up.

Madonna's new album, "Rebel Heart" was released on March 9, Monday. Listen to her interview with Stern here.
