Triple H has participated in a decreasing number of wrestling bouts as of late, given his advanced age and role in the WWE. However, he has returned as a pivotal figure on WWE Raw for the past few weeks, becoming a major source of frustration for Seth Rollins and his title pursuits. This was before a botched ambush by Samoa Joe, which was orchestrated by Triple H, left Rollins injured and out of competition for several weeks.

Triple H look all but set to face Rollins at WrestleMania 33, after he cost the latter the WWE Universal title as well as a spot at the previously concluded Royal Rumble. However, wrestling fans have been left frustrated due to the fact that the match could have happened much sooner, but Triple H instead chose to lie low. Now, they will have to wait longer due to Rollins' legitimate knee injury.

There could be legitimate reasons as to why Triple H has chosen to appear so infrequently on Monday Night Raw as of late. It could be because the show is currently facing stiff competition against Monday Night Football and if he were to make a return on Raw, it might not receive the buzz the WWE were hoping for, according to Give Me Sport.

Regardless of how Triple H will choose to make his grand return, he looks set to lose whatever match he participates in, according to the Bleacher Report. The question remains though of who will he face now that his feud Rollins has to be put in the backburner for an indefinite amount of time.

There have been talks lately regarding a match with Shane McMahon, although this seems unlikely due to former WWE champion AJ Styles being the one calling the CEO's son out as of late. Furthermore, McMahon may not even compete against Styles at "the grandest stage of them all" given that the latter looks poised to headline the event in a WWE championship contest.

Batista is another viable opponent for Triple H at WrestleMania 33. While he left the promotion back in 2014, he has stated that he would consider a return if it was in a favorable angle. As Batista looks to retire from wrestling for good to pursue other endeavors, a match against Triple H at WrestleMania would be the perfect send-off for a wrestler of his stature.
