Considered as the main offering for the Cupertino-based tech giant's 10th anniversary, the intensifying rumors for the much-anticipated Apple's iPhone 8 hover in the air of the tech world. While it is almost agreed upon that the release date will be on September 2018, analysts suggest a major change, this time on the well-known smartphone's name.

Based on the dates of Apple handset's previous launches, chances are the upcoming iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will be unveiled fall next year as it is expected that iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus will be revealed this coming September.

On the other hand, the said release date may change and be moved on September 2017 if the recent rumors will be proven true - that Apple is set to axe the 'S' generation of their iPhones, MacWorld reported.

Fans and observers of the tech giant have long noted the 'tick-tock' system being used by Apple in terms of updating their flagship handsets. This system refers to the alternating major and minor updates on iPhones.

While there are no concrete proof that iPhone 8 will be launched a year early, a report from Business Insider suggests that an unnamed source from Israel who works for Apple said that the next iPhone iteration will be an iPhone 8 and not the expected iPhone 7s.

Also, an analyst from Cowen and Company named Timothy Acuri has also released his prediction that the Cupertino-based firm will switch from 'S' to X. The basis of this is that the letter X is the Roman numeral for number 10 and Apple will be celebrating its first decade this year.

Aside from its release date, iPhone 8's specifications and new anticipated features have already hit the tech news' headlines. Several leaks revealed that the upcoming handset from Apple will flaunt an all glass design, Mirror UK reported. If this will be true, it will be one of the boldest and most major design update of the iPhone line.

It is also rumored that the iPhone 8 will feature a curved OLED display with no bezels, just like the Korea-based company's Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. The new addition to the well-known smartphone line will also be the realization of the rumors on iPhone 7, which is the absence of Apple's trademark circle-shaped home button. Aside from this update in design, iPhone 8 will also be equipped with wireless charging capability as well as Iris scanner.
