Exciting things are in store in the second half of "The Walking Dead" Season 7. The show's executive producer Gale Anne Hurd has spoken about what lies ahead for Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and how Negan's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) actions changed him.

Earlier this week, Hurd sat down for a Q&A with AMC to discuss where "The Walking Dead" would be heading now. The EP said Rick is the one who has changed most because of Negan, adding that she is not sure if the protagonist can ever recuperate from the ordeal.

"I think it has to be Rick, who has undergone the greatest change because of Negan's rule," Hurd said. "We get to see him brought low again - even lower than when he decided to become a farmer."

In the second half of "The Walking Dead" Season 7, viewers will get to see whether or not Rick can reclaim the mantle of leadership. It will focus on preparing for war and gathering the supplies and numbers needed to bring Negan down once and for all.

To take down the foul-mouthed villain, Rick plans to recruit Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and Gregory (Xander Berkeley) in his fight. However, similar to how he felt, the other two leaders do not want bloodshed.

It comes days after Sonequa Martin, who plays Sasha Williams in the AMC series, hinted that her character may sacrifice herself in a failed attempt to take out Negan. The former aims to seek revenge for Abraham Ford's (Michael Cudlitz) brutal death.

"I've never taken my eye off of Negan," Martin told Entertainment Weekly. "I know what I believe needs to be done, and I'm ready to see if we can come up with a plan that will work together."

"The Walking Dead" returns to AMC for the second half of Season 7 on Feb. 12 at 9:00 pm ET/PT. While waiting, check out the show's mid-season finale here:
