"Goblin" alum Lee Dong Wook recently admitted to personally asking the writer of the hit tvN Korean drama to cast him for the role of Grim Reaper.

According to Soompi, Lee Dong Wook was not supposed to play the role, but his determination to be part of "Goblin" won the heart of the series' writer. After reading the script, the actor immediately fell in love with uniqueness of the Grim Reaper. This is why even though he is just a secondary character, Lee Dong Wook did not have any problems playing the part.

At first, writer Kim Eun Sook was hesitant to cast the actor for the role because she thought that he did not fit the image of the Grim Reaper. But in order to convince her otherwise, Lee Dong Wook decided to fly to a part of Korea to meet up with Kim Eun Sook for a discussion. This made the writer feel that he was really interested in the role.

Meanwhile, "Goblin" aired its final episode last month and received a massive 20.5 rating. The digits were very impressive because "Goblin" was released on cable television. This means that fewer viewers have access to the Gong Yoo starrer.

Following the successful but very emotional ending to the story of the Goblin and Ji Eun Tak, the cast of "Goblin" was supposed to head to Thailand for a grand vacation. However, the trip pushed through but did not include any of the show's lead stars.

A representative for Lee Dong Wook, Gong Yoo, Ji Eun Tak and Yoo In-na said that all four cast members' schedules are already very tight so they could not afford to go on a vacation with the staff of "Goblin."

This news disappointed thousands of fans who planned to fly to Phuket to catch a glimpse of their favorite Korean celebrities. "The plane tickets were bought and other reservations all finished already. We did not receive any word from the actors about them not being able to come," a rep from the organizing committee said.
