Cornerback Byron Maxwell has recently joined Philadelphia Eagles, and he saied Eagles' defense is quite similar to that of Seattle Seahawks.

"Their style of defense is very similar to what we play in Seattle," Maxwell told CSN Philly.

Maxwell was a sixth-round draft pick out of Clemson in 2011, and began starting games for the Seahawks in 2013 and was a full-time starter in 2014. He helped the Seahawks get to the Super Bowl both in 2013 and 2014.

Last season, Maxwell finished with 39 tackles and two interceptions as a Seattle Seahawk, and the Seahawks led the NFL, surrendering just 267.1 total yards and 185.6 passing yards per game. If there is any truth in the cornerback's speech, the Eagles' style of defense is not too much different.

"I don't think there's going to be too many differences between here and Seattle," said Maxwell.

"I had to do my job in Seattle and when I get here I'll do my job, whatever that may be. The technique will be the same from Seattle. I'm not going to be playing a different technique or anything like that. I'm going to be playing cover-3-man, that's what I do," the cornerback added.

In the last season, the Eagles' defense, especially the secondary, struggled to find the balance. The painful losses to the Dallas Cowboys, Seahawks and Washington Redskins in a row are what the team wants to avoid this season.

That is where the second best free agent cornerback on the market comes handy. And for this grueling task to revive the spirit of victory, the Eagles have rewarded Maxwell with a six-year, $63 million contract.

"A lot of things that they're doing here, it's similar," Maxwell said on Wednesday.

"The environment alone, they talk about greatness and how you find greatness is within yourself by creating good daily habits. Basically it's the same thing in Seattle where the competition is within yourself," the cornerback said, according to NJ.

Only time will tell whether Maxwell stays ahead in that competition, and it is not going to take a long time, too. The 2015 NFL free agency period has already begun on March 10.
