"Shazam" is definitely being made into a movie, but Warner Bros. and DC Comics Extended Universe have not confirmed the actor who will play the lead superhero. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, however, has been confirmed to play the villain, Black Adam.

Johnson is the sole cast member confirmed for "Shazam" so far. He was originally tapped to play Shazam, but he chose the role of Black Adam instead because he found the character more interesting.

"What made me choose Black Adam? I just felt Black Adam was inherently more interesting to me because I felt there were more layers to Black Adam, starting out as a slave and then ultimately becoming the anti-hero who we enjoy today," Johnson told Digital Spy about the role.

Menawhile, here are some of the actors rumored to play Shazam or are in the running for the role.

Channing Tatum

There are rumblings that Tatum dropped Marvel's "Gambit" movie to play Shazam in the DCEU instead. "Gambit" has been a long-gestating project and the production and release dates have been moved several times already.

The rumors about Tatum taking on Shazam started when then "Flash" director Rick Famuyiwa followed Tatum on Twitter. According to Movie Pilot, Famuyiwa was following a lot of people attached to the DCEU films, including Zack Snyder, Ben Affleck and Ray Fisher. Tatum was the only person he followed that isn't linked to the DCEU.

Derek Theler

Theler has expressed interest in playing Shazam in the DCEU movie. He shared several mock ups of him as the caped superhero on Instagram. In one caption, he wrote that Shazam has always been his favorite character. He also shared a photo of him with The Rock, sparking speculations that he may be one of the frontrunners for the role.

Kellan Lutz

Lutz has the body to portray a huge superhero that can stand-up against supersized Johnson. He also a lot of experience in doing action films, having appeared in "The Expendables 3," "The Legend of Hercules," and "Immortals."

Armie Hammer

Hammer, at 6'5" can definitely go head to head against The Rock. Hammer's name has been constantly associated with the DCEU, but he hasn't been confirmed for any role yet. He was previously considered to play Batman in the defunct 2008 "Justice League" film.
