"Cheese in the Trap" fans are hot, but not for the reason some may think. The upcoming film adaptation of Soon Ggi's webcomic has attracted quite a bit of controversy for its casting of Park Hae Jin, Oh Yeon Seo, Park Ki Woong and Yoo In Young in the main roles.

In August 2016, it was revealed that the "Cheese in the Trap" would be adapted into a film version starring Hae Jin and Oh. The two were later joined by Yoo and Ki Woong, who have been confirmed to play the role of Baek In Ho and Baek In Ha, respectively.

However, not everyone is happy with the film's casting. Many fans are disappointed that the lead stars were not cast more realistically. Some were even confused why the production team decided to cast actors who are already in their 30s when the story heavily focuses on the life and relationships of a group of college students, according to Korean newsoutlet The Kpop Herald.

While there may be fans who are disappointed with the film's line-up, others are just hoping that the film adaptation ending is much better than the drama's ending. As recalled, the TV series' version has sparked controversy after the story started veering away from the original storyline.

Since the webtoon had not been completed at the time, the ending of the tvN drama series is an original work of screenwriter Kim Nam-Hee. It is said that the show's ending was rushed and left many viewers baffled since it did not tell what exactly happened between Yoo Jung (Hae Jin) and Hong Seol (Kim Go Eun).

Despite strong criticism, Hae Jin still decided to star in the film adaptation. While it was difficult for him to reprise the male lead role, the Hallyu star accepted the offer because of his lingering feelings toward the said character.

"Honestly, after the drama ended, I did not want to do anything," Park told Korea's Maeil Business Newspaper, as cited by All Kpop. "I experienced a rough patch [after the drama], but I still have lingering feelings toward the character named "Yoo Jung.'"
