On the night of Rebecca's first big gig with the band, Jack will head to Cleveland to make things right with her. Randall, Kate and Kevin will make big decisions about their futures.

In an interview with E! News, Mandy Moore was asked what viewers would feel after watching the "This Is Us" Season 1 finale. The actress simply replied, "Pain, grief."

"I think the show is ultimately hopeful," Moore said. "And I feel like it leaves on that note as well, in the finale.

"This Is Us" Season 1 episode 17 ended with Jack getting into a car. Drunk, he was set to follow Rebecca who had just gone on tour.

In the present, Kate (Chrissy Metz) revealed to Toby (Chris Sullivan) that she was responsible for her father's death as a teenager. This made viewers think Jack's death will be caused by Kate urging him to go see Rebecca. Some fans believe that "This Is Us" Season 1 finale will not show how Jack dies.

Before the finale, series creator Dan Fogelman told Variety that very few details changed from his initial plan. He said wverything will have been done exactly as they set out to do by the time they get to the end of "This Is Us" Season 1.

Very few details changed from the initial plan and "This Is Us" Season 2 is going to play out much the same way, Fogelman said. For him, being able to continue doing that in the second season without the audience ever becoming frustrated will be one of the biggest challenges they will meet.
