There were early speculations about Suzuki Gixxer that the fully faired Gixxer could be called as the SLK 155 and GSX-R 155. But after it was spotted in India in 2014 while speed-testing Suzuki Gixxer, "SF" was seen prefixed to it, confirming the name as Suzuki Gixxer SF.

The concept of motorbike fairing has been always popular especially with sport bikes. A motorbike fairing is a shell placed over the frame of the bike with the primary purpose to reduce air drag. The major benefit of a fairing on motorbikes is to reducing the fuel consumption, which in turn increases engine life.

The Fairer Gixxer, will be loaded with the same 155cc single-cylinder air-cooled carbureted engine which comes mated to a slick shifting five-speed manual transmission gearbox. As it is a fully faired version which will certainly strained more on the benefit of liquid-cooling system and thus increasing the engine life.

Sharing the same basic Gixxer engine means it will steam out same power at 14.8 PS (14.59bhp) with a torque of 14 Nm.

From the design front, regardless of the comprehensive fairing which covers right up to the front of the entire engine, leaving only the transmission gearbox exposed seems the rest have been directly carried from the base Gixxer.

Suzuki has been the great competitor to Yamaha when it was first launched Suzuki Gixxer the base model with Yamaha FZ16 and FZS last September. If it is Fazer for Yamaha then Gixxer will do the same for Suzuki. It will also be seen competing with Honda CB Unicorn 160 and Honda CBR150.

The reports suggest that mass production of the faired version of the 155cc bike has begun. Though there has been no official declaration from Suzuki Motorcycles on the launch of fully-faired version of Gixxer.

According to Indian Autos Blog, the price of this faired version will be slightly more than that of its streetnaked sibling and would be available in colours ranging from Pearl Mirage White, Metallic Triton Blue, Glass Sparkle Black, Candy Red to Metallic Grey.
