South Korean singer Taeyang, a member of the K-pop boys group BIGBANG is expecting his first child with his wife Min Hyo-rin who is an actress.
According to a report by Hankook Ilbo on September 27, Min is in the last stages of her pregnancy. Residents in the Hannam-dong, where the couple resides, spotted the actress. The publication reported that the South Korean power couple is expecting a baby soon.
Later in the day, a spokesperson from the actress's agency confirmed her pregnancy in a statement to Xport News. "It is true that Min Hyo Rin is expecting. She is waiting joyfully", the spokesperson said, as per the translation by Soompi. "As she hopes to give birth quietly, we ask for your understanding in not being able to respond to further questions", the spokesperson added.
This is the first child for both the artists, who have been together for seven years. The singer and the actress first confirmed that they were in a relationship in 2015, after a year of rumors and also reports by the South Korean media. The duo had first met in 2014, on the set of Taeyang's music video for "1AM".
Taeyang and Min got married in a private ceremony at a church in Gyeonggi, Seoul, in 2018, which was officiated by actor Ki Tae-Young. The wedding guests included former BIGBANG bandmates Seungri and Daesung, Former 2NE1 members Sandara Park and CL, and singers SE7EN and Psy.
The wedding was followed by a reception at the Paradise City resort in South Korea's Incheon. Min's dress was custom-made by Oscar De La Renta. Taeyang started his mandatory military service a month after the wedding, getting discharged in November 2019.
The couple has kept a low public profile since their wedding. Min's last release, the biographical film "Race To Freedom: Um Bok Dong", was in 2019. On the other hand, Taeyang last had a solo music release in 2017, while BIGBANG's last release as a group was in 2018 with the single "Flower Road".
Taeyang, whose real name is Dong Young-bae, first found fame in 2006 as a member of BIGBANG, one of the biggest-selling K-pop boybands. The singer also pursued a solo career, releasing his first solo album "Solar" in 2010.
Min Hyo-Rin is popular for her roles in the films "The Grand Heist" and "Sunny" and TV shows "Romance Town", "The Happy Loner", and "Triple". She also appeared in the KBS reality show "Sister's Slam Dunk".
