Despite the increasing technological trend towards thinner and lighter laptops, Acer's newest Chromebook 15 is contrary to that philosophy as the company releases by far the biggest Chromebook in the market right now.

The new Acer Chromebook 15 has a 15.6-inch screen which many tech analysts considers massive in today's laptop standards. However, the bigger size of the Chromebook 15 is what made it stand above every other devices that comes to mind. Its bigger size also means that Acer can throw in almost any high-end specs without worrying too much about heat because all the components are too cramped up in a tight space.

In terms of hardware specification, the Chromebook has two variants; the one that sells for $249 has a 15.6-inch display with 1366 x 768 maximum display resolution, 2GB of memory and 16GB of storage space. The $349.99 variant on the other hand has an Intel Celeron dual-core processor which is a big boost considering todays Chromebook standards, on top of that Acer has thrown in a full 1080p 15.6-inch display monitor, 4GB of memory and 32GB of internal storage.

According to Mashable, Acer is also considering to release a version of the Chromebook that runs using the Intel Core i3 processor.

Considering the specs of the Acer's Chromebook, it is still affordable by any standards and can easily fall as an entry-level Windows notebook, according to The Verge.

The current buzz in the tech community is Apple's decision to design its newest MacBook with only one USB-C port, Acer on the other hand decided not to go into this way and integrate its Chromebook 15 with all the standard necessities and hardware in or to meet today's computing demand.

The Chromebook 15 has both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI port, an SD card slot, a standard 3.5mm jack, and Wi-Fi adapters that supports both 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz frequency.

Despite all the interesting features present in the new Acer Chromebook, one of the downside many analysts pointed out is its weight which is around five pounds. This makes it a difficult to carry especially for users who demands mobility. However, some tech analysts say that its weigh is a small price to pay if one has to consider all the features cramped inside it.
