Han Seo Hee, a former YG Entertainment trainee who was preparing to be a K-pop star, was sentenced to prison in the first trial and arrested in court. She was charged for taking methamphetamine during her probation period.
The 1st Criminal Division Suwon District Court Seongnam Branch sentenced the ex-trainee to prison imprisonment of one year and six months on November 17. The court assessed her to be a flight risk (someone who is likely to flee) and detained her.
The court said that Han Seo Hee stated that the paper cup she used during a urine test done at the probation office fell into the toilet. However, an analysis from the National Forensic Service, showed that there was no evidence that it was mixed with the toilet content.
The court rejected the claim that Han Seo Hee's urine test was mixed with someone else's because the other two people out of the three being tested at that point were male individuals.
When the court sentenced Han Seo Hee to prison, she reportedly shouted and screamed out profanities at the judge. She apparently used the "F***" word and told the judge that she will not run away nor will she be arrested. She also asked the judge what they were doing, before adding that there was no reason to sentence her to prison.
The judge responded by saying that if Han Seo Hee was not satisfied with the judgment, then she could appeal as per the procedure. However, the former singer and Instagram influencer continued to use swear words at the judge as she was taken out of the courtroom.
Han Seo Hee was also heard making a fuss even in the accused's waiting room and her voice could be heard from the courtroom. That was not all, she also vented out her displeasure at the Justice Ministry staff and caused a commotion on the prison bus too.
Han Seo Hee was sentenced to three years of imprisonment and four years of probation for taking marijuana in October 2016. However, during the probation period in July 2020, her test for psychotropic drugs came out positive, and was detained at the probation office.
During that time, the ex-K-pop trainee claimed that the urine test was erroneous and received a hair test instead, which came back negative and she was able to continue probation. Later on, the prosecution charged Han Seo Hee with Methamphetamine use.
