A court in Manama,Saudi Arabia has sentenced a Saudi woman, 32, to 70 lashes and a huge fine of 20,000 saudi riyals, just because she insulted a man on Whatsapp. The woman had been on trial for several days until she admitted her mistake.

The third article of Saudi Anti-Cyber criminal law states that any person found guilty of inflicting damage to someone through technological devices shall be fined no more than 50,000 SR or an imprisonment of no more than one year, Gulf News reported.

The woman was found guilty on this Monday for ruining the reputation and personal respect of the plaintiff on Whatsapp. She had an argument on Whatsapp after which this complaint was filed in against her.

Both of them have not disclosed the reason behind the argument however the woman has admitted that she ruined his respect. The woman has shown no concerns against the man.

Since then, there have been arguments all over the social media. People have raised concerns over the harsh laws imposed by the Saudi government. This is not the first time that womens have received such a hard sentence .

In July 2014, two women were sentenced 10 days in jail and 20 lashes each for harming each others respect on Whatsapp, Dawn News reported.

In the end, the two women turned out to be cousins. The judge tried his utmost best to resolve this issue by negotiation but the two women were too stubborn to negotiate with each other.

The Saudi law is also being targeted for killing and charging people for minor mistakes.
