Fans of the "Dead Rising" franchise will be seeing its film version through the Crackle app.

"Dead Rising: Watchtower" is an upcoming horror zombie film, which is based on the video game of the same name. The upcoming film is set at a time of zombie outbreak, with the government vaccine is unsuccessful to stop the spread of infection. KTLA revealed that the film centers on Chase Carter, an online reporter whose pursuit of his career led him into the middle of the zombie infested place.

The film will star Jesse Metcalfe as Carter, Dennis Haysbert, Virginia Masden, Meghan Ory, Keegan Connor Tracy, and Rob Riggle.

The game "Dead Rising" is developed and published by Capcom, under producer Keiji Inafune. On August 06, 2006, the video game was released solely for the Xbox 360 video game console. The game plot follows Frank West, a photojournalist who becomes stuck in a shopping mall infested with zombies. West has to defend himself and stay alive, while evading zombie attacks and rescuing other survivors.

As per Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb, Xbox 360 and Xbox One owners are the first ones to see the movie, since it will be released in the Crackle app this March 20, Friday. "Dead Rising: Watchtower" is accessible in the Crackle app for one week, dated March 20 to March 26.

The film is set to be piloted by Zach Lipovsky, with Tim Carter as writer. Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Chris Foss, Tomas Harlan, Gary Hawes, Mike Jackson, Andy Levine are the film co-producers. Principal photography started September 30 last year in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Meanwhile, KLTA also notes a "Dead Rising: Watchtower" blood drive event, which took place March 18 at Sony Pictures Plaza, Museum Circle in Washington Boulevard Culver City, California.

"Dead Rising: Watchtower" is slated to premiere in Crackle app on March 27.
