General Motors' 2016 Chevy Malibu is the perfect car for teenage drivers as the new "Teen Drive" system monitors how fast the car goes.
The 2016 Chevy Malibu's new driving system contains several features aimed at encouraging safe driving not only for teenagers, but for everyone in general.
For example, the system will mute any audio device in the car if the driver and front seat occupant do not have their seatbelts on. It also nags the driver when they are driving above the set speed limit.
Teenage drivers would not like this new driving system as it records everything related to driving, including the distance and speed of the drive, and if any of the safety features were triggered, according to PC Mag.
The 2016 Chevy Malibu will also be able to tell the teen driver's parents if the stability control, braking events or collision alerts were engaged.
Parents will also be able to set the audio system's maximum volume in order to encourage their teenager to focus on driving. The driver will not be able to mute or turn down the volume on the system's alerts while driving.
General Motors said that they came up with the system so that parents will be able to easily teach their children about safe driving, reinforcing and discussing the much needed safe driving habits for teenagers, according to Slash Gear.
"As a mother of two, I know anything that has the potential of keeping one's family safer is of great value to parents," said MaryAnn Beebe, a safety engineer from General Motors.
To prevent their children from messing with the 2016 Chevy Malibu's Teen Driver system, parents can set a secure PIN code.
General Motors' new car is set to debut at the New York Auto Show on April and is slated to be launched by the end of the year.
