Sleeping more has an exciting benefit for women- they can have more sex drive and arousal, resulting in more overall sex.

A new study in University of Michigan has found that women who got one extra hour of sleep were 14 percent more likely to get laid the next day.  And, they were more likely to be more satisfied as well.

The study was performed on 171 young, college-aged women for a period of two weeks, to study their sleeping and sexual habits. And, fortunately, researchers have hit the jackpot.

The women slept for an average of 7 hours and 22 minutes. The report says that the women who slept more had better genital arousal and sex drive the next day, according to Nature World report.

Sleep is important for both men and women. Researchers believe it can reduce problems in the bedroom.

Study lead author David Kalmbach, a researcher at the University of Michigan Sleep and Circadian Research Laboratory, says that the findings are applicable to all women, including those who are psychiatrically and medically fit enough.

 "Our study showed that good sleep is important for healthy sexual desire and arousal in women, even when women are psychiatrically and medically healthy," Kalmbach said.

Sleep has already been linked with positive health outcomes. It has been proved that good sleep increases energy and improves mood, concentration and overall health.

Previous studies have had a single point of focus, to find the health effects of good sleep. This study has gone ahead and linked the sexual desires and health in a prudent manner.

Most previous studies to find links between women's sexual health and sleep have been a "snapshot in time," looking at just one time point, according to Kamblach.

Dr. Nathaniel F. Watson, the president-elect of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, said, "You have to be a little bit cautious about drawing any conclusions from this because it is just an association study,"

The study does not prove cause-and-effect, according to Health.

The study's findings have been published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine.
