After applying to patent her popular lyrical phrases and getting her legs insured at $40 milion, Taylor Swift is now expanding her presence on the internet and will go to any length to keep her image clean. Swift has purchased the web addresses TaylorSwift.porn and TaylorSwift.adult before they can be owned by anyone else.
The "Shake It Off" singer has often proved herself pioneer by staying ahead of everyone else. As reported by CNN, anyone can buy .porn, .adult and .sucks suffixes from 547 other options and can attach them to any domain name. The new suffixes will be available by June 1.
Before the assigned date, a selected group of public figure and companies have been given a chance to protect their brand by registering their domain names before anyone else can do. Along with Swift, Microsoft has also shown promptness and has registered Office.porn and Office.adult.
It is not confirmed whether the Swift's team has grabbed .sucks suffix too. Swift's promptness will ensure that no other organization or person can buy these domain names and tarnish her public image by showing porn or adult material on it, Huffington Post reported.
Not all companies, sports teams and celebrities are eager to buy such domain names as of now since they are hesitant to attach their brand with something negative and demeaning like porn. However, Steve Miholovich, SVP of marketing at Safenames, a domain registrar and advisory firm for websites advises otherwise.
"People who have bad intentions are going to do what they're going to do and there's nothing to prevent that," said Miholovich as a warning to other celebrities who want to protect their public image as after June 1, there is going to a scramble as celebrities named website attached with suffixes like porn or adult will be available to anyone if it is not pre-registered.
