Liam Payne of One Direction has just thrown shade at Justin Bieber on social media.
Although the British-Irish boy band and Bieber have co-existed in the industry for years, this was the first time that a Twitter war ensued.
It all started when a Belieber took a jab at Payne on Twitter. “Is it not kind of depressing for you to know that Justin Bieber will always be more successful than you?” she wrote.
Payne was quick to answer back. “How many times have I been arrested?” the 1D member wrote.
In a signature Belieber fashion, Payne was attacked online as the “Beauty and the Beat” singer’s devoted fans did not take kindly to what Payne said, according to Us Weekly.
“Never mind. #ringoffire #banter,” Payne responded, taking back what he said to diss the Canadian pop star.
According to MTV, the Twitter fight started when Payne was backstage with the rest of the band and was taking pictures with fans. The band held their poster, but Payne jokingly covered Zayn Malik’s picture. This angered a fan, who did not hesitate at all to diss the British singer.
Payne’s response was in reference to a series of run-ins that Bieber has had with the law. He was first arrested in January of 2014 for drag racing in Miami, Florida. Later, that same year, he was also charged with misdemeanor for throwing eggs at his neighbor’s home in Calabasas, California.
Then, just last September, he was arrested yet again and was charged with assault for reckless driving in Ontario, Canada after he had a “physical altercation” with another driver.
