Joe and Anthony Russo are set to helm two of Marvel's upcoming film line-up, "Avengers: Infinity War - Part 1 and 2".
The Russo's are known for directing television comedies such as "Arrested Development", "Happy Endings", and "Up All Night." The directors also proved to cover the action realm as the pilots of 2014's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" as well as next year's "Captain America: Civil War." Now, the duo will spearhead the two "Avengers" moviesas per Badass Digest. The films will showcase the big-screen heroes and antagonists towards the conclusion of Marvel's wave three of movies.
There is no official announcement with regard to the "Infinity War" plot details, but Marvel is now considering Christopher Markus and Stephen McFreely, the writers of the "Captain America" films and "Thor: The Dark World". There is a big possibility at this point that the Russos, together with writers Markus and McFreely will tandem in the future films involving the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
With "Captain America 3: Civil War" leading the events to the "Avengers: Infinity War", it is assumed that the Russos can take it to the very end.
Director Whedon will not be directing the next "Avengers" movies, as he expressed his thoughts in January to Slashfilms. For the director, he said that he could not imagine himself crafting Marvel's future movies, which will cover the next four years. Whedon also expressed his love for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
"I obviously still want to be part of the Marvel Universe - I love these guys - but it ain't easy," he said.
Aside from "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and "Avengers: Infinity War", Marvel has prepared its movie line-up for the succeeding years, including "Thor 3: Ragnarok", "X-Men: Apocalypse", "Black Panther", "Captain Marvel", "Doctor Strange", and "Guardians of the Galaxy 2."
Marvel's "Avengers: Infinity War - Part 1" is slated to premiere in theaters on May 4, 2018 while "Avengers: Infinity War - Part 2" is to be released on May 3, 2019.
