Two children were found in the freezer of their mother's home in Detroit and police officials are saying that they have been in there for more than a year now.
According to police officials, the two children were believed to be an 11-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl at a house at the Martin Luther King apartment complex located in Sta. Aubin, Detroit. The children were in the house where their mother lived and their other siblings are also in the house but were unharmed. The discovery came after the mother and her other children were being evicted from their home.
According to Sun Times, Police Chief James Craig said that the police officials took the mother as the person of interest and is now in custody. A resident shared that the mother was not in the home where the children were found and was living with a relative at another home that is also located inside the complex.
The identity of the woman was not made known to the public but other information such as the two kids that are living in the said home are aged 11 and 17. It is not yet clear why these children did not know about their siblings and where they were when the two kids were placed in the freeze. The surviving children are already in preventive custody and they were not harmed by their mother.
No weapons were also found in the home of the mother and the motive of the children being killed remains unknown. Also, another woman that was around 45 to 50 years old was found in the freezer and that she showed signs of trauma.
Detroit Free Press added that when the opened the freezer, the bodies were in a black plastic garbage and Court officer Lee Gordon shared that he is sickened to know that these children were so young.
Other neighbors also shared a statement saying that these children were not seen around for as long as a year and they were even thought to have moved out from the area.
