A contradictory statement was made by Mike Schroepfer, Facebook's chief technology officer during the F8 conference about Oculus Rift and it is true! The virtual reality headset have some good games under development but the consumer version of Oculus is still far away from completion.

A lot of people were eager to get into the world of virtual reality which has created enough hype in recent times. When Facebook purchased Oculus Rift, Sony announced Morpheus and Steam joined the race with HTC, it was confirmed that virtual reality is coming for sure.

During the conference, the CTO showed a demo of EVE: Valkyrie which put players in full control of a spaceship and it displayed the prowess of the VR headset. "Most wonder why virtual reality wasn't a possibility in the 80s or 90s. It's because technology wasn't ready to support it," said Schroepfer according to Mashable.

He added that it's going to be an incredible experience for players and when Oculus ships, it will have some great content available on it. When questioned whether a 2015 release date is being planned, he strongly refuted it.

"We are not yet ready to announce a consumer version. The content is building up, there are games but an actual launch is still way ahead. When we are ready to announce, we will surely shout from the top of mountains to let everyone know," he said.

Michael Abrash, chief scientist at Oculus was positive about virtual reality which is capable of creating experiences and its potential to change the way people live but he confirms that it's still in its early stages, GMA Network reported.
