“Maleficent” star Angelina Jolie disclosed earlier this week that she had surgery to remove her ovaries and fallopian tubes due to cancer prevention and family.

The said surgery forced her system into early menopausal stage and will leave her unable to have babies. However, she believed that it will give her peace and be able to see her children grow up and spend more time with family as she wrote in her op-ed for the New York Times.

Jolie wrote about the emotional feelings that she went through which is typical among women who are in the same case. She wanted to live to see her kids grow up and have their own families so she can see her grandchildren.

"The beautiful thing about such moments in life is that there is so much clarity. You know what you live for and what matters. It is polarizing, and it is peaceful," Jolie wrote.

Two weeks earlier, Jolie's doctor informed her of her current situation that she had "a number of inflammatory markers that are elevated" in her blood system which can be a cause to ovarian cancer. She needed to see a specialist immediately as per her doctor's advice, Deseret News reported.

Jolie's doctor told her she was clear from the cancer threat. But despite the positive results from the PET/CT scan, she still went on with the surgery and removed her ovaries and fallopian tubes.

Brad Pitt's wife first looked for information pertaining to genetic testing some two years ago. She also wrote an opinionated document about her decision to go on a double mastectomy to prevent breast cancer.
