Houston Rockets superstar guard James Harden is still ahead of the MVP race but trailing close is last week's third and Golden State star player Stephen Curry. However,with the Golden State hotshot's performance, there is a big possibility that Curry will take the lead anytime soon, SF Gate reported.
Running on third is last week's second runner Oklahoma City Thunder's Russell Westbrook while former MVP and probably the world's most recognized basketball player today Lebron James is at number four.
Harden has been carrying the Houston Rockets all throughout the season but recently, his MVP performance is starting to fade away that resulted to back to back losses including the most recent in the hands of Toronto Raptors. Raptor superstar DeMar DeRozan poured in 42 points outshining the league's MVP front runner.
On the other hand, the second seeded Curry has been putting impressive numbers with an average of 24 points per game with 8 assists and has a 48 percent field goal and an impressive 51 percent in the three point field. He also has the league best 95 percent free throw percentage. Adding "fuel" to the fire, Curry has been averaging 29 points per game in the last 5 games.
Westbrook has been playing like a possessed man despite the lack of support from injury barred Serge Ibaka and former MVP Kevin Durant. Ibaka's improvement is on a daily basis status while Durant is out of the season due to a micro fracture injury. In addition to Westbrook's close to perfect performance, he had tabbed another milestone in his career by equaling the likes of Michael Jordan, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson for the most consecutive triple-double performance in a single season.
However, regardless of Westbrook's MVP performance, Oklahoma City Thunder had dropped consecutive losses in their recent games thus making him third on the run.
Since his return to Cleveland, James has been averaging 26 points per outing tagging along 7 assists and 6 boards with an average of 57 percent field goal, which is one of the best in the decades.
However, according to SB Nation, going down the season, James has dropped a significant numbers in his averages most notably his field gold percentage from 57 to just 49 percent. Another bad thing for James would be his turn overs which are high compared to what he had when he was playing with the Miami Heat.
