United Nations' Messenger of Peace and Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio is taking his obligations seriously as he has plants to turn his private island into an eco-friendly resort.

According to Z News, DiCaprio bought the 104-acre island called the Blackadore Caye back in 2005 and now he plans to make it a resort to improve the whole ecosystem of the private island that he owns. DiCaprio reportedly partnered with the chief executive of Delos, a New York development firm, Paul Scialla in order to create the resort that could be fully operational three years from now.

The project will reportedly be called "Blackadore Caye, a Restorative Island." It was reported by The New York Daily News that it is to be called as such because the island has been suffering from destructive activities such as overfishing and deforestation. Biologist Juan Rovalo, the main biologist leading a team studying the caye located in Belize, said that the island has been used for so many years now thus the cause of the destruction.

Rovalo pointed out that the caye was used before as an area for fishermen to rest when they are on their way to the markets in Mexico. Also, a lot of the palm trees of the island were recently uprooted because these trees are used as landscape designs in different hotels near the area.

DiCaprio's plans will be featuring infinity pools, luxury resorts, and villas. There will be eco-friendly habitats for fishes and different trees will also be replanted.

DiCaprio said in a statement that the main focus of his project is that he wants to do something to change the world as he thinks it will be a groundbreaking movement for the environment. DiCaprio added that Belize has the second largest coral reef system worldwide and it contains one of the most biodiverse marine lives.

Once the resort will already be fully operational, guidelines for guests who plan to visit the area will be given and they will have to adhere to it. An ecology orientation program is to be given to the guests upon arrival.
