Spring season may be likened to all things colourful, lively, and fun though surely not for those who suffer from pollen allergy.

Typical symptoms of pollen allergy are running nose, sore and itchy throat, skin rashes and watery and itchy eyes though the severity varies from person to person. Things could end up being even more miserable for the kids who are more prone to be pollen allergic, according to Wtop.

Furthermore, there is no real treatment for this that can cure them for life. As such, there are preventive medications that can help alleviate the misery to a large extent. This includes limiting the exposure to the pollens which are more prevalent during dawn and dusk. Planning outdoor activities accordingly can save a lot of hassles later on.

Closing door and windows and keeping the air conditioning on will also help maintaining the air inside clean and fresh. This may not be the best solution for kids though who crave to be out in the sun specially after the long and gruelling winter months. In that case, the next best thing to do is to take showers at regular intervals to wash off the pollens from skin and hair, more so after being outside for a considerable period of time. Keeping shoes outside should also be encouraged to prevent pollens from reaching inside our homes.

There are some holistic methods on treating allergy. While not everyone might respond to these forms of treatment in a similar manner, this is something that could be worth trying. Substances like garlic are proven to help increase immunity, WebMD stated. The same goes for honey as well. There are many herbs too that are known to help prevent allergic reactions.

Allergists are already running busy since February. Plants and trees are in full bloom and so is the rush among people to get themselves treated early on. Anti-histamine is available over-the-counter in pharmacies that can help relieve the allergy, although expert medical advice should be sought if conditions persist.
