"The Following" Season 3, Episode 7 airs Monday, Apr. 6, on FOX. This week's new episode synopsis features the approaching execution day for Joe Carroll (James Purefoy). This develops as Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) begins his hunt for Strauss' best student.
"As Joe Carroll's execution nears, Ryan and Mike face a new threat, while Max is cleared to rejoin the task force and immediately finds herself in harm's way," reads the new FOX episode synopsis for "The Following" Season 3, Episode 7.
"When I die, you die," Carroll reminds Ryan in "The Following" Season 3, Episode 6. Ryan decides to seek Carroll's help in finding Strauss (Gregg Henry). When Strauss was found dead, the FBI investigates and concludes that Strauss' "best student" has killed him. Ryan then comes back to Carroll for another answer.
"Who is Strauss' best student?" Ryan asks Carroll in the final moments of "The Following" Season 3, Episode 6. The audience knows this best student has spared the lives of one of Strauss' followers. He is a family man, who seems to be living a "normal life," much loved by his wife and kids.
Meanwhile, Gwen (Zuleikha Robinson) remains mysterious, in terms of whether she is really "clean" or not. That she demands total honesty from Ryan, including his operations, triggers suspicion among many viewers. When she repeatedly asks how Joe Carroll is doing, red flags were raised.
In a conversation with Max (Jessica Stroup) in "The Following" Season 3, Episode 6, Gwen herself says that when a person is "too good to be true," one can conclude that "they're always hiding something."
"The Following" Season 3 continues with a new episode this week. This thriller-drama airs Mondays on FOX.
