Celebrity dermatologist Frederic Brandt passed away in Miami over the weekend. He was 65.
The botox king was discovered at his Miami home by his housekeeper on Sunday. The doctor had worked with several Hollywood big wigs in his lifetime and was known as "Baron of Botox." The exact cause of his sudden death is still not confirmed yet several reports are pointing towards suicide.
Latest reports from Independent state that the famous dermatologist was devastated by his unconfirmed yet demeaning portrayal in a new Netflix comedy series. The series, "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," was created by Tina Fey which had a botox loving character, Dr Sidney Grant.
Brandt apparently felt offended by the unflattering resemblance to the character of demeaning nature. Fey's character has improbably smooth skin and platinum blond hair, strikingly similar to Brandt's actual appearance.
Although it is claimed by several media outlets that the show drew the famous dermatologist to suicide, his longtime publicist, Jacquie Trachtenberg, has claimed that the show was not the cause of the doctor's death.
"It is mean, and it was bullying," Trachtenberg told New York Post. "But the show was not the reason for his depression, and it was not the reason he would take his own life."
The show's creator had also never claimed that their character is inspired from the popular dermatologist. Brandt was reportedly suffering from depression since long period of time.
Brandt was known as a pioneer in the world of cosmetic surgery and an early proponent of Botox. The skin specialist was the number one choice of celebrities. Madonna was one of his top clients who is often credited him for her flawless skin.
