"19 Kids And Counting" star Jill Duggar has released a statement about her newly born son with husband Derick Dillard named Israel David.

"Not everything went as expected so we were reminded of the verse that the Bible talks about when 'Man plans his way but the Lord directs his steps," Duggar said in a video posted on The Dillard Family website. "We were encouraged by that."

While she did not reveal the details about what exactly did not go as expected, Duggar openly expressed the desire to have a home birth, which she apparently was not able to do.

If Duggar needed to be induced, the only place to do that is at a hospital, a source told E! News, as after 42 weeks, a doctor's permission is required in order to go with a home birth with a midwife.

In the video, Duggar described her son as an adorable and "a handsome little fella" and asked "19 Kids And Counting" fans to stay tuned to TLC, which will air on May 5 "the birth episode as well as things surrounding that."

Duggar announced that her son Israel David Dillard "has made his arrival" on April 6, Monday, at 11:49pm weighing 9 lbs and 10 ounces and measuring 23 inches long. The baby boy was born almost two weeks after the scheduled due date.

"Mom and baby are both doing wonderful," Duggar said. "We are so thankful for his safe arrival and look forward to this great new journey called parenthood."
